The right to drive is as much a part of being an American as the right to vote. It’s really not but it seems that way. It’s a privilege we can enjoy or unfortunately it can be an instrument that destroys our life! Driving is a privilege and allows us to live a life on the go. Travelling far and wide if we choose, moving quickly from place to place. Whether travelling across country or just travelling around town, driving makes it quick and easy. The fact is, driving can be just as dangerous as it is convenient without the right knowledge and patience developed through in-depth driver’s training.
Unfortunately, most people do not receive quality driver’s training and grow to operate a motor vehicle unsafely or even dangerously. Parents training their children often teach them dangerous driving techniques like rolling through stop signs and stop lights. In car driving schools often teach the bare minimum, not sharing knowledge of automobile understanding and maintenance or defensive driving techniques. This is because the driving instructors at most driving schools learned to drive from their parents and have little or no formal vehicle safe operation training.
The Advanced Driving School of Florida (ADSOF) driving courses are derived from formal professional vehicle operation training from military and civilian sources. The courses were designed and developed by a master driver (military designation), having proven experience and success in training new vehicle operators on the maintenance and safe operation of vehicles from large trucks to standard automobiles, in the U.S. and Europe.
Effective Driver’s training that produces safe defensive drivers must contain at a minimum training on:
- Vehicle operation safety inspection
- Understanding of the function and usage of vehicle operation controls
- Proper effective usage of vehicle operating controls
- Understanding of vehicle abilities and limitations
- Knowledge and understanding of the usage of vehicle safety features
- Knowledge and understanding of road navigation and safe travel techniques
- Knowledge and understanding of defensive driving and safe vehicle operation techniques
Unfortunately, even the state driver’s manual and driving instructor training do not provide this level of knowledge or ensure their driving instructors know and provide it to student drivers.
At ADSOF, because our course was developed by a Master Driving Instructor, it does contain these critical elements that develop safe defensive drivers with the knowledge and patience to drive safely anywhere. Our courses provide the parent or person wanting to teach and train the new driver, with curriculum and materials to effectively train their new driver in these critical areas of vehicle operating knowledge.
